Welcome to Spiritually Fit Yoga! This episode includes a video which can be viewed on Spotify, demonstrating how to set yourself up for Constructive Rest Pose. If you have never experienced 30 minutes of rest in this supported, reclined posture, I highly recommend it! It's like aaaahhhh-mazing! If you happen to be experiencing a lot of stress or have been told your sympathetic nervous system is dominant or you just feel emotionally reactive, staying in Constructive Rest for 10-30 minutes can be an effective and enjoyable way to train the body and mind to relax and create a default of being in equanimity, feeling calm and peaceful.

Constructive Rest Pose or the Alexander Technique Active Rest can be practiced daily for 10-30 minutes. The variation demonstrated in this episode elevates the spine and head off the ground and supports the legs with a strap cinched around the upper thighs, just above the knees. As with any physical practice, modify this posture to suit your body and consult your doctor if you experience any pain.
Constructive Rest Pose can offer these benefits:
spinal alignment
reduce excess muscular tension
expand your breathing
calm the nervous system
relax the body and mind
Enjoy!
