一席主播实感：来北美后才知道的那些事儿（三）

主播：Anne（中国）+ Erin (美国 ） 歌曲 ：Smile（Dami Im）这期节目我们来聊聊schools in the US（美国的学校），以及what are some things that are quite surprising（哪些事情比较让人惊讶）。1. College dorms are very expensive.大学宿舍很贵。这点是different from Chinese colleges（跟中国大学不同），而且大多数学院only guarantee dorms for the first year students（只确保一年级的学生有宿舍住）。第一年以后，大多数 public universities（公立大学）的学生 have to move off campus（必须搬离学校）或者go apartment hunting for a place near the school（在学校附近找公寓）。Most of the time,it’s cheaper to live off campus than to live on campus（离校居住比住校便宜）. 这是因为the dorms are definitely more convenient（宿舍肯定更方便），并且closer to your classes（离上课的地方更近）。2. In American schools, freshmen are often looked down upon. 在美国学校里，新生经常会被人嫌弃。有很多teen movies（青少年电影）里面有scenes where they just bully the freshmen（有人欺负新生的场景）。虽然不是真实情况，但在high school（高中）， upperclassman（高年级学生）会说 freshman（新生） 很annoying（烦人）。Even if they don’t know the freshman personally（私下里不认识新生）, 也会 blame the hallways being crowded or bad smells on freshman（把走廊很拥挤或有怪味的错推给新生）。在新生go  up  to  being  a  sophomore（升上二年级）之后， 他们也会start  disliking freshman（开始讨厌新生）。不过在加拿大，很多人simplythink that the freshmenare cute（只是觉得新生很可爱）。3. There is a type of cafeteria culture in some schools. 在一些学校里存在着食堂文化。

比如certain sports teams（一些体育队的人） 会sit at the same table everyday（每天坐同一张桌子）, 其他人就会naturally leave it open for them（自然地给他们空出来）。这个座位是一个“unassigned assigned seat”，看似是unassigned（没被分配），其实是assigned（被分配好了）。如果你took someone’s seat（坐了某人的座位），他们虽然不会start a fight（挑起冲突），但也可能会want you to move，或者be surprised that you’re sitting there。4. Most teachers will let students eat during class. 大多数老师都允许学生在课堂上吃东西。主播Erin回忆：她在 elementary school（小学）的时候, 学生们要是饿了的话，他们就会brought snacks to school to eat。 在 middle school（中学）时，甚至有个女生brought soup and rice to class one time， 然后 ate while the teacher taught（在老师教课的时候吃）。当然这不是very common（很普遍），大多数学生只会带 candy （糖果）或者 chips（薯片）。在大学里，it depends on the professor（取决于教授）。有些教授会allow you to eat breakfast in class（允许你在课上吃早饭），有些教授是highly against it（特别反对）。主播Anne也回忆说，她大学里曾经有一个法语老师brought pancakes for the students（给同学们带了薄煎饼）。5. Most required textbooks in university are at least 100 US dollars. 大多数学校要求的教科书价格高达上百美元。教科书cost a lot（花很多钱），因为它们通常是大部头的hard cover（硬皮书）。如果你buy one new，这些书的价格can go up to hundreds of dollars（可以高达上百美元）。如果学生们是unable to afford textbooks（买不起教科书），很多学生会从graduated students（毕业生）那里buy old used textbooks for cheaper(以便宜的价格买旧的教科书），或者学校会give money or loans to those students to spend on textbooks（给那些学生提供钱或者贷款来买教科书）。在 beginning of the semester（学期刚开始）的时候，你会听到很多学生complaining about how much they have to spend this semester（抱怨他们这学期要花多少钱）!请留言告诉我们：对于北美校园生活，你还想了解哪些方面？
