Description:

Imagine working as hard as possible to get into medical school to find that you hate it. A dream you worked for from a young age when reality sets in. You look different than most of your classmates, you associate yourself differently than most of your classmates, and you struggle to see what wearing a white coat for the rest of your life actually means. Well, meet today’s guest, Dr. Darien Sutton, MD, MBA. A larger than life, NYC based fourth year Emergency Medicine Resident on a mission to improve healthcare delivery, treat systemic health issues in his community, improve physician communication, and educate the public on the common medical emergencies. Darien is a NYC native, was a D1 collegiate swimmer, and is the twin of a NYC based OB/GYN. Darien is a frequent contributor and guest on SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio and is the founder of @busstopmed, a YouTube channel and platform focused on teaching the public about health epidemics and what they should do if they find themselves in a medical emergency. In this episode, we dive deep discussing Darien’s path to medicine, his passion for serving the community, what exercise means to him, why getting an MBA in medical school saved his career, why he chose emergency medicine, why physicians are historically terrible communicators, and why he wants to bring health education to the public.
